WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Upgraders for items are available in many places on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
upgrade item does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead item upgrading that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through several methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. They can make use of Flightstones which are a general upgrade currency that is available to all, or crests, which are more specialized and are consumed during upgrades at specific item levels. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
